We started because PR was painfully boring.
Outspokens was born in a Shoreditch co-working space in 2019 by three people who were tired of watching brilliant brands get buried under jargon-stuffed press releases and committee-approved messaging that said absolutely nothing. We'd all done time at the big agencies. We'd sat through the brainstorms where someone suggests “leveraging synergies” with a straight face. We'd watched decks get diluted through seven rounds of approval until every drop of personality had been squeezed out.
We decided there had to be a better way to get brands into the conversation. The better way, it turned out, was embarrassingly simple: have a point of view, say it clearly, and get it in front of the right people. No fluff. No filler. No “circling back.”
Every agency we met talked about reach, impressions, and AVE. Nobody talked about making people actually give a damn. So we built an agency that starts with conviction and works outward from there. If a client doesn't have a strong point of view, we help them find one. If they do, we sharpen it until it cuts.
Seven years later, we're a team of twelve running comms for challenger brands across fintech, climate tech, hospitality, D2C, and creative industries. We've placed stories in every masthead that matters and a few that surprised us. More importantly, we've helped our clients build reputations that outlast any single headline.
We don't have a ping-pong table or a manifesto on the wall. What we do have: senior people on every account, no timesheets, a flat fee structure with no hidden costs, and a genuine allergy to busywork. Every person here can run a campaign end-to-end. Nobody is “just the coordinator.”
The safest brands are the most forgettable. We help our clients take positions that matter and defend them in public. A single Guardian feature is worth more than a month of sponsored posts. Earned media builds trust; paid media rents attention. We know which one compounds. That's why we've never run a paid campaign for a client — every placement, every quote, every byline is earned.
We don't pitch journalists — we talk to them. We've spent years building genuine relationships with the people who shape conversations. That can't be automated, and it can't be faked. When we call a journalist, they pick up, because they know we're not wasting their time. Every story we bring them is something their readers actually want to read.
We'll tell you if your story isn't ready. We'll tell you if your timing is wrong. We'll tell you if you're about to waste money. Honesty saves everyone's time. We don't report on “potential reach” or AVE. We track whether the right people saw your story, what they did next, and whether it moved the needle on the thing that actually matters to your business.
We take on six new clients a year. Not because we're exclusive — because we refuse to dilute attention. Every client gets the senior team, not a junior account exec learning on your budget. We hire writers who think like strategists, and strategists who can write. If you want to talk to us about working here, you should probably just email us something interesting you've written.
We don't measure success in clippings. We measure it in whether people remember you tomorrow. The best PR doesn't look like PR at all — it looks like a brand that everyone already knows and nobody can quite explain why.
Convinced? Curious? Either works.
We're always happy to talk, even if you're not sure what you need yet. The best projects start with a conversation, not a document.
